About Indian Navy – Indian Navy Recruitment 2022

The Indian Navy, (Hindi: Bhāratīya Nau Sēnā), is the naval branch of the Indian Armed Forces. The Indian navy Commanded by President of India and he is the supreme authority for given commands to Indian Navy. The Chief of Naval Staff, a four-star admiral, commands the navy. The 17th-century Maratha emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is considered as the ‘Father of the Indian Navy’. Mainak Bhandari, Darya sarang and Daulat Khan were the admirals of the Maratha navy in Sambhaji’s reign. In the years 1678-79 Shivaji Maharaj had started to build naval forts of Khanderi and Colaba near Mumbai to check the alliance between Siddis of Janjira and the British.

Indian Navy depends on central government alloted different subsidies, budget through the defense ministry of India while merchant navy are Independent. Merchant Navy – In merchant navy their are two types of jobs : Offshore. Onshore. The Navy maintains, trains, and equips combat-ready naval forces capable of winning wars, deterring aggression and maintaining the freedom of the seas. The primary objective of the navy is to safeguard the nation’s maritime borders, and in conjunction with other Armed Forces of the union, act to deter or defeat any threats or aggression against the territory, people or maritime interests of India, both in war and peace.

As of June 2019, Indian Navy has 67,252 active and 55,000 reserve personnel in service and has a fleet of 137 warships and 235 aircraft. As of March 2018, the operational fleet consists of one aircraft carrier, one amphibious transport dock, eight landing ship tanks, eleven destroyers, fourteen frigates, one nuclear-powered attack submarine, one ballistic missile submarine, fifteen conventionally-powered attack submarines, twenty-two corvettes, one mine countermeasure vessel, four fleet tankers and various other auxiliary vessels.

Branch/ Type of Entry– (a) General Service, Unmarried Men / Women-Men, Age Limit (years)- 19 ½,- 25, Educational Qualifications-Final year/ Qualified BE/B Tech with 60% marks in Marine/ Mechanical/ Aeronautical/ Production/ Metallurgy/ Control/any other allied discipline. 

Branch/ Type of Entry– (b) Submarine, Unmarried Men / Women-    Men, Age Limit (years)-   19 1/2  – 25, Educational Qualifications-Final year/ Qualified BE/B Tech with 55% marks in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Telecommunication/Computer Science/ Control or any other allied discipline or equivalent qualification recognized by institute of engineers (India) as exempted from section ‘A’ and ‘B’ of their associate membership examination.

Branch/ Type of Entry– (c) UES (Engg.) Submarine, Unmarried Men / Women-Men, Age Limit (years)- 19 – 24, Educational Qualifications-Final year BE/B Tech with 60% marks in following disciplines :- Mech/ Marine/ Automobiles/ Mechatronics/Instrumentation/ Production/ Metallurgy/ Industrial Engg. & Manegment.

Branch/ Type of Entry– (d) UES (Engg.), Unmarried Men / Women- Men, Age Limit (years)-19 – 24, Educational Qualifications-    Final year BE/B Tech with 60% marks in Mech/ Marine/ Aeronautical/ Production/ Control Engg. or any other allied discipline.

 Naval Architect

Branch/ Type of Entry– (a) Naval Architecture, Unmarried Men / Women-      Men/Women Age Limit (years)-191/2 – 25, Educational Qualifications-            Final year/ Qualified BE/B Tech with 60% marks in Mech/ Civil/ Aeronautical/ Naval Architecture/ Metallurgy.

Branch/ Type of Entry– (b) UES (NA), Unmarried Men / Women-      Men/ Women, Age Limit (years)-   19 – 24, Educational Qualifications-Final year BE/B Tech with 60% marks in Mech/ Metallurgy/ Civil/ Aeronautical/ Naval Architecture/ Aerospace.

 Note:

(a) The initial engagement period for various SSC entries are as follows:-
(i) Executive (Pilot/Observer/Submarine/Hydro) and Tech (Submarine) – 14 years with no further extension.
(ii)Executive (GS/IT/NAIC/Logistics),Tech (GS/Aviation/NA) and Education -12 years extendable to 14 years.
(iii)Executive (Sports/ATC/Law) – 10 years extendable to 14 years in 02 steps ie; 10+2 + 2
(b) Women are eligible to apply for Short Service Commission in Law, Logistics, ATC, Observer, Education, Naval Architecture, Pilot and NAI.
(c) Advertisements calling for applications from eligible candidates are published in Employment News and important newspapers in Feb to May and Aug to Dec every year.
(d) The training of officers selected through the above entries normally commences in the month of July/ Jan every year.

 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ENTRY AS A SAILOR

 Entry -ARTIFICER Artificer Apprentice, Branch Specialisation- Electrical/Mech/Hull Artificer Air Mechanician, Age-17-20, Educational Qualification- 10+2 equivalent, qualified with Physics & Mathematics and one subject out of Chemistry/ Biology/ Computers with minimum 60% marks., Method of Recruitment- Through written examination in English, Dec & Jun   GK, Maths and Science held at NRCs/ AROs/ ASCs/ NREs twice a year in Mar/Apr & Sep/Oct for the course commencing in Aug & Feb respectively., Month of  Advt. –Dec & Jun 

 Entry-NON ARTIFICER SSR (Senior Secondary Recruit), Branch Specialisation- Seaman/Communication/ Electrical/ Medical/ Logistics (Material)/ Logistics (Financial & Administration)/ Engineering/Naval Aviation., Age-17-21, Educational Qualification-  10+2 or equivalent, qualified with Physics & Mathematics and one subject out of Chemistry/ Biology/Computer Science,Method of Recruitment- Through written examination in English, GK, Maths and Science held at NRCs / & AROs/ ASCs/ NREs twice a year in Mar/Apr & Sep/Oct for the course commencing in Aug &Feb respectively., Month of  Advt. – Nov/Dec & May/Jun

 Entry- MR (Matric Recruit), Branch Specialisation- I. Musician, Age-17-21, Educational Qualification-  Matric, Method of Recruitment- Candidates should have aptitude for music. Knowledge of atleast one musical instrument is mandatory. Recruitment is conducted once a year., Month of  Advt. – March
